Dear students,
I'm taking medical leave and can't use my right arm. Anyway I'll start posting material in our classroom so you can start practising. First you will have to revise everything you did last year to see if there's something you have problem with.
Use this forum or the email to be in touch.
In ten days we'll be having our first zoom meeting, so be attentive.
Here's the list of our group.
Kind regards,

Guys,
We can use this forum to "talk". Use it to ask me questions, too.
* You have to introduce yourselves by saying something about you. Anything.
I hope you're OK.
Take care.

Dear students,
You have to do all the exercises on the HI page. They're for revision. You don't need to give them to me, but you can send them to me if you have questions or doubts.
This exercise here is of mandatory delivery.
* We use the SIMPLE PAST to talk about completed actions, and the Present Perfect to express experiences and talk about things we don't say when happened. To make affirmative sentences we add "ED" to the regular verbs. The irregular verbs have a participle different from the infinitive. You will find a list at the back of your books. To make questions we use the auxiliaries HAS and HAVE.
You have to cover unit 7 in your New Headway Pre Intermediate and ask me if there's something you don't understand. We can also use the FORUM for that purpose.
You can use the workbook to practise, and unit 12 in your New Headway Elementary to revise.
Best wishes!

* We use MUST and HAVE TO to express obligations. The difference is based whether the obligation is external or internal.
Eg. I'm not feeling well. I MUST see a doctor soon!
I HAVE TO do all the exercises the teachers send me every week.
* To give advice we use SHOULD for something trivial and MUST for something serious.
Eg. You should talk to him about it.
You have a terrible fever! You must call 107 right now!
* The opposite of HAVE TO is MUSTN'T (a prohibition). DON'T / DOESN'T HAVE TO are used to express that something is not necessary.
Eg. You don't have to wear a uniform at the Pellegrini because it's a public school.

Can you relate the Fosters' relationship to the gender based violence phenomenon?
Gender based violence
Gender-Based Violence is 'any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women. This includes threats of violence, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or private. This definition covers a broad range of acts occurring in the family including battering, sexual abuse of female children, dowry-related violence, and marital rape.
Violence against women is a violation of women's human rights, a cause and consequence of gender inequality, and a major cause of women's ill health. It is a detriment to their well-being, very often a crime, and a significant cost to the resources of the wider society. As a consequence, there are policy issues across the whole range of subjects that concern governments. These issues are particularly important in the area of crime, health, family, education and economic well-being.

To turn a sentence into Passive you have to make a new sentence in which the object of the verb becomes the new subject.

A younger woman helps an elderly woman with her mobile phone. This short movie is a nice picture of how technology affects people and relationships across generations.
Vocabulary: to unlock your mobile, the star button, the menu button, to go to the main menu, to text, to enter your PIN, to scroll up/down, to select, to press a button, to delete or to get rid of it, to predict or to be predictive
Answer these questions:
1. Pay attention to how the younger woman gives instructions to the older woman. How would you describe using your tablet, computer or other pieces of technology to someone who didn't know how to use them?
2. How would you describe the young woman?
3. What is the message of this movie?
-
Watch this video.
Let me know if there's something you don't understand.

Do these exercises in case you need to practise Passive. Let me know if you have doubts or if you need some more practice.

-
When the active sentence has an indirect object and a direct object, you'd rather use the indirect object as the subject of the new sentence. That's grammatically more appropriate, though the other one is right anyway.
Eg. He gave me a heart on one of his Instagram stories.
Passive: *** I was given a heart in one of his Instagram stories.
*A heart was given to me in one of his Instagram stories.

My dear students,
As I've been saying since March your final term mark is composed by: 1)oral production in class (if you never speak/participate or if you don't answer when I call you, you get a 1 by the end of the term); 2) written production (if you never send any of the mandatory written works, you get a 1 by the end of the term); and 3) an oral or written work with a mark.
From those three marks you get an average which is your final mark.
Best wishes.
